“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?
Come to me… Walk with me and work with me—
watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”
~ Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)
It’s probably time to slow down. Maybe even stop for a while. What would happen if you got quiet and located your joy again? What if you rediscovered the things that make you come alive on the inside? What if you found the courage to finally tell some of us “no?”
Joy? Life? Control? Those things might seem a million miles from your hamster wheel right now, but I dare you to find out how long it will take you to get there. “There” is closer than you think. I guarantee it. Don’t believe me? Just stop for a while and prove me wrong.
I dare you.
I double dog dare you.
I triple dog Texas dare you.
Would it help if I said “please?” Or… “pretty please with sugar on top?” I will, if you require it.
Why?
Your best days are ahead of you. We want to see those days. We want the best of you that’s in those days. We need you to finish strong. We need you to take care of yourself.
Find rest. I’m begging you.
Now… will you?
Selah.

Thanks Scott, this was a great read. Time to slow down this hampster wheel for sure – I'll take your triple dog Texas dare!!!
Thanks, Kevin! Just remember, many hamster wheel incarcerations are self-imposed. Just sat "no" to the wheel. Friends don't let friends "hamster wheel."
great blog… and today ill do just that… Shabbat Shalom (rest with peace)
Enjoy, your rest, David!
thanks for the reminder, man.
Hey, Bill! Preaching as much to me as anyone else :^)
I needed this today. Thanks for the great reminder!!
Excellent reminder. My week at recreate was the week I slowed down, even with all that was going on there. I heard more from God in that week than I have in a long time. And I desperately needed that.
Glad it helped, Sarah!
Michele, thanks for reading and commenting! Glad to stay connected to recreate peeps!
You will probably never know how much this post meant to me. But thank you for writing it. I stumbled onto this post WHILE I was on my hamster wheel. God bless you, Scott.
I’m so glad – thanks for letting me know!
