The Creative Ledge

Welcome to the Creative Ledge. This blog is for the artist and creative spirit. It is also for those called to lead creative communities or teams.

Creatives are a different sort. They are passionate, quirky and most of the time looking at the mountain from a different angle than others… ask me how I know. Sometimes they are misunderstood as moody, mistaken as detached or even labeled as “A.D.D.” Their brilliance is sometimes marred by their fear of failure.

In every endeavor to make great art or be an agent of change there is a ledge, a jumping-off place that usually involves risk. When the fear of risk is conquered, the ledge is your catalyst, the risk is your companion. Then you are on your journey to make a difference, to do something great.

Greatness is about the leap of faith. Faith says you can’t fly unless you jump. Fear says if you play safe, you can’t crash and burn. The truth is that you were born for the adventure. You were created to blaze a trail. Made to display the Glory of God like it has never been seen.

Be free. Take a risk. Be great.

Thanks for your encouragement on The Creative Ledge. I agree that we need to take leaps of faith to do great things for God. One thing I keep remembering was when Jesus said that when He goes back to His Father, we would do greater works than He did on earth. All of that would be made possible with the help of the Holy Spirit, of course, but it still boggles my mind that He wants to use us like partners. WOW!!! I am training to be a graphic designer; and I have noticed some of His “help” during 2008. It was more than enough to place me on the honor roll last term which was a first for me ever. I have to credit God and His Word for that. We can have whatever we believe and receive.
